At St Peter's Kindergarten we design our program to reflect the strengths, interests and backgrounds of our staff and children. We offer a Chinese program where children are exposed to the Chinese language and culture as well as gardening, nature and environmental experiences. The children also have the opportunity to participate in regular excursions and incursions.
Parent participation and involvement in your child's Kindergarten experience is a major part of our aim at St Peter's kindergarten. As parents, you are the ones who know your child best, and it is through working in partnership with the staff at St Peter's Kindergarten that your child will be able to gain the most from his/her time with us.
The Committee of Management which consists of parent members is committed to Early Childhood Education and administers the centre. The committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting held in November each year.
We are extremely lucky to have our qualified assistant, Celia Lee who has been employee at St Peter’s for many years running her Chinese program across all groups. The children have a chance to participate in formal and informal learning of the Chinese Language and culture, along with various environmental and gardening issues.
All children are offered the opportunity to learn to count in Chinese and perform Chinese songs they have learnt at occasions such as Mother’s Day and the Christmas Concert. Cooking is also incorporated into the program with the children participating in helping to prepare, cook and eat a Chinese dish once a term.
